Be a Storyteller: Tell Me About Your Career – 3-Part Series
Posted by Chris in Lp - Leadership
So, Happy New Year!
I know I have been delayed in posting since the new year arrived – no excuses! I was just being lazy.
Now to the content. My first post for the new year is going to be a three part post that involves YOU.
With each arriving year, people generally have a habit of making resolutions or goals for the incoming year. Ok, before you quit reading and close your browser, I am not going to make you set a resolution or goal. Rather, I want you to do some reflection. Reflection on your career.
Over this three part series, I will ask you to answer three questions that have you reflect on your career.
When will the questions be posted?
The questions are posted over a three-day timeframe.
1st Question: Wednesday, January 5, 2011
2nd Question: Thursday, January 6, 2011
3rd Question: Friday, January 7, 2011
How do I tell my story and respond to the questions?
I am providing you a variety of ways to tell your story when you answer each of the questions by using whatever medium you want (as long as I have access to the content). Here are some options for you to get your story out there:
- Provide your story via a YouTube or Vimeo video (provide me the link to your video via comments, email, or Twitter)
- Post your response in the comments section of the question post you are answering
- Email me your response
- Write a blog post that provides your answer to the question (be sure to provide me a link to find your response)
- Answer via Twitter if you can answer in 140 characters (just make sure that I know where to find your response)
- Whatever else you can think of (again, just make sure I have access to the content)
What is your contact information to get my story to you?
Email: chris@xtremehr.com
Twitter: @ChrisPonder
Is there a limit on how long my response can be?
No. However, try to keep it to the point.
What are you going to do with this information?
The ultimate goal is to take the information you provide, post it to my blog (after all of the submissions), and demonstrate a connection between each of us. When you entered your career, you chose that field and industry for a reason. Not all of us may have found another person in our profession or industry that chose it for the same reasons we did – well, not yet. Therefore, the I want you to be able to find that person that chose your profession for the same reason did. Additionally, I want you to connect with that person and grow your network. Heck, you might even make a new friend. You might even make a lot of friends.
Why are you doing this project?
Why not?
Real reason. One of my goals for 2011 was to continue to develop my professional network, but also assist others in developing their network. Here is my first start!
Let’s get started!
The first question was posted today.
Please share this project with all of your friends. Tweet it, email it, blog it, text it, talk about it, whatever.
I want this to be a learning experience for everyone. So what are you waiting for, get started on the first question by clicking here.
Happy storytelling!
Note: This project is not limited to those just in HR profession….it open to any profession.
